Promoting Environmental Awareness: Second Chance Foundation and PT SIRSAK Hold Waste Management Socialization

As part of its ongoing commitment to environmental education and sustainability, Second Chance Foundation collaborated with PT SIRSAK to hold a Waste Management Socialization program at Cipinang Class I Correctional Facility on October 16th 2025.

The program aimed to raise awareness about proper waste management practices, particularly regarding Multi-Layer Packaging (MLP), and to encourage participants to take an active role in protecting the environment.

The program began at 09.30 AM with an engaging opening and icebreaking session led by the Second Chance Foundation team. During this session, participants were introduced to the agenda and objectives of the activity, setting an energetic tone for the rest of the day.

Going in to the main part of the program, representatives from SIRSAK delivered an insightful presentation covering:

  • An introduction to SIRSAK and its sustainability initiatives

  • The current waste issues and the importance of proper waste management

  • The economic potential and benefits of recycling and waste processing

  • A detailed explanation of mLP waste and the technical process of MLP segregation

The session provided participants with a deeper understanding of how waste can be transformed into valuable resources while helping to build a cleaner, more sustainable environment.

Following the presentation, participants joined a hands-on MLP waste segregation practice session, guided directly by the SIRSAK team. This practical activity helped participants apply what they learned and understand the importance of accurate waste sorting.

An interactive Q&A session followed, allowing participants to ask questions related to recycling innovations, environmental challenges, and the circular economy.

To make the learning experience more engaging, a quiz session with prizes was also held, testing participants’ knowledge of the material shared earlier in the day.

Before closing, Second Chance Foundation facilitated an evaluation questionnaire to gather feedback and insights from the participants. The program concluded with a group photo session, capturing the spirit of collaboration and environmental commitment shared by everyone involved.

Through these initiatives, Second Chance Foundation hopes to inspire positive environmental behavior and empower communities to adopt more sustainable waste management habits. The partnership with PT SIRSAK reflects Second Chance Foundation’s ongoing effort to promote education, awareness, and collective action for a cleaner and more sustainable future.
