Celebrating Nelson Mandela Day 2024 "It’s still in our hands to combat poverty and inequity", Second Chance Foundation Holds Makeup and Nail Art Training in Women's Prisons Class IIA Malang.

Malang – This year's International Nelson Mandela Day 2024 has the theme It's still in our hands to combat poverty and inequality - It is in our hands that efforts to combat poverty and inequality lie. Realizing the above theme, the Second Chance Foundation (SCF) together with several collaborative partners held makeup and nail art training activities at the Class IIA Malang Women's Prison.

The training, which will take place for two days on 10-11 July 2024 with the slogan #ITISINYOURHANDS to make a positive impact, is a collaborative program of the Second Chance Foundation with Dahayu Makeup, Nona Nails Studio by Cindy Lou, and CV Asanka Wijaya (Tone Cosmetics). This program is designed to provide practical skills that are relevant to market needs, but with affordable business capital. SCF hopes that, through this training, the participants can change the course of their lives for the better after returning to society.

Mrs. Yunengsih Bc.IP., S.Sos., M.H., Head of Class IIA Malang Women's Prison, expressed her appreciation for the training activities which involved not only 14 inmates but also 2 officers for Makeup training, as well as 8 inmates and 2 officers for Nail Art training . Yunengsih views that officer involvement can strengthen the continuity of activities and share knowledge with other inmates.

Mrs. Evy Amir Syamsudin (Founder of the Second Chance Foundation) in her remarks at the closing of the training event said that this activity was SCF's commitment to applying the Mandela Rules and Bangkok Rules. Through collaboration and involvement of third parties, inmates can gain opportunities and access to self-development. Especially through various skills activities that are relevant to community needs.

This training activity was closed by Mr Asep Sutandar, A.Md.I.P., S.Sos., M.Si. (Head of the East Java Ministry of Law and Human Rights Corrections Division). "Every individual has the power to change the world and the ability to have a positive impact on society," said he, who also advised the training participants to seriously utilize the knowledge they have gained from the training instructor partners. Apart from that, the Second Chance Foundation is also trying to increase public awareness by involving partners, sharing information about the good things that WBPs and former WBPs have achieved and done.
