Pelatihan Haircut - Kartini 2025.jpg

Welcoming Kartini Day, Second Chance Foundation holds a Haircut Training session at the Class IIA Tangerang Women's Correctional Facility.

Tangerang – To commemorate Kartini Day 2025 on April 21, the Second Chance Foundation once again embodies an inspiring collaborative spirit by holding a Haircut Training activity. This activity aims to empower vulnerable and marginalized women, especially Inmates (WB) at the Class IIA Tangerang Women's Correctional Facility. Through this skills training, it is hoped that it can be useful as provisions for the future when they have completed their prison sentence and return to society.

The two-day training, which took place on April 16-17, 2025, was a collaborative program between the Second Chance Foundation and Ms. Lili Dahlia, a Professional Hairstylist at the Class IIA Tangerang Women's Correctional Facility.

The first day of the training began with a warm welcome from the Chairperson of the Second Chance Foundation, Mrs. Evy Amir Syamsudin, who emphasized the importance of empowerment and moral support for the inmate participants. In her remarks, Mrs. Evy emphasized that this training not only aims to provide technical skills but also inspires enthusiasm and motivation for inmates to remain enthusiastic in building a better future. "Kartini is not just a name, but a spirit that continues to live in every step of every woman's struggle. Let's rise together because every woman has the strength to achieve her dreams and realize her potential," said Mrs. Evy in her speech.

This training is a manifestation of SCF's commitment to implementing the Bangkok Rules and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with a focus on reintegrating female inmates into society by providing relevant skills that are in line with market needs. A total of 10 female inmates participated in this training enthusiastically. In this activity, they learned basic hair-cutting techniques, adjusting the model to the shape of the face, using razors safely, and the importance of maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in hair-cutting service practices.

This training was guided directly by Ms. Lili Dahlia, an experienced professional instructor in the field of hairdressing. On the second day, activities focused on advanced practices. Participants received guidance to deepen the techniques they had learned and understand how to provide quality services according to customer needs. In addition, they also learned to build self-confidence in dealing with potential customers — an important skill in the service world.

As a complement, a knowledge-sharing session was held on marketing through social media. Participants were introduced to the concept of personal branding, strategies for creating interesting content and building a positive digital presence to expand the reach of future businesses.

The spirit of this training is in line with the values of Kartini's struggle. Through education and skills, women are empowered to stand on their own two feet, paving the way for independence and a better life. Amidst the walls of coaching, Kartini's spirit continues to burn — that every woman has the right to grow, dream, and take an active role in building the future.

As the name implies, the Second Chance Foundation seeks to provide a second chance for inmates so that after being released, they become creative, productive, independent people and can be accepted back into their environment as dignified people who do not repeat their mistakes. In addition, the Second Chance Foundation also seeks to increase public awareness by involving partners and sharing information about the good things that inmates and former inmates have obtained and done.
