WCPP - Day 1 - Opening Day_edited.jpg

Justice is more than just a verdict; it’s a journey toward healing: Second Chance Foundation proudly participated in the World Congress on Probation and Parole di Bali.

As part of the global dialogue on the future of correctional systems at the 7th World Congress on Probation and Parole (WCPP) 2026, Second Chance Foundation participated in this international forum as a reflection of its commitment to promoting second chances. Held from 14–17 April 2026, the congress served as an important platform for delegates from various countries to discuss how reintegration and rehabilitation processes should be strengthened, recognizing that every individual deserves the opportunity for a second chance.

At WCPP 2026, Indonesia served as the host country, bringing together correctional practitioners, academics, and policymakers from around the world to collectively strengthen systems that promote second chances—because everyone deserves the opportunity to rebuild their future.

As part of the World Congress on Probation and Parole, Second Chance Foundation participated to introduce its role in supporting various positive initiatives, including correctional development programs, productive correctional facilities, and the promotion of inmates’ creative works from institutions across Indonesia. Mrs. Evy Amir Syamsudin (Founder of Second Chance Foundation) and Mr. Collie Brown (Senior Advisor to Second Chance Foundation) were also invited as speakers during the congress session on Thursday, 16 April 2026. During this session, Second Chance Foundation presented its perspectives on correctional systems, as well as initiatives that may serve as references for future policy development related to probation and parole systems.

In addition, Second Chance Foundation highlighted several programs implemented within correctional facilities. These included vocational training initiatives such as batik training, Second Chance Star (an inter-inmate talent competition), the construction of bunk beds to improve living conditions, and the presentation of inmates’ creative works that contributed to important national moments. These initiatives represent more than routine activities—they demonstrate to the global community the impact of empowerment programs carried out by Second Chance Foundation, and show that hope continues to exist even behind prison walls, because second chances remain possible. This message is essential in strengthening international awareness that inmates deserve opportunities to rebuild their futures through meaningful rehabilitation and reintegration efforts.

The international forum involved participation from 94 Probation Offices (Balai Pemasyarakatan) and featured contributions from several correctional technical implementation units (UPT Pemasyarakatan) in Bali. As part of its participation, Second Chance Foundation also hosted an exhibition booth to engage with delegates from various countries and introduce its ongoing programs and initiatives.

This is the message and contribution that Second Chance Foundation brought to the World Congress on Probation and Parole 2026.
